Clay Hands will be hosting Lissa for a series of exciting printing workshops. Join us for one or all three workshops to deepen knowledge around the possibilities of printing images onto clay and ceramic surfaces. These participatory workshops are open to all levels of experience, demonstrations and printing process given with step-by-step instructions and notes.
Workshops are held on 𝗪𝗲𝗱𝗻𝗲𝘀𝗱𝗮𝘆 𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴𝘀 𝗮𝘁 𝗖𝗹𝗮𝘆 𝗛𝗮𝗻𝗱𝘀 𝘀𝘁𝘂𝗱𝗶𝗼 𝗶𝗻 𝗪𝗼𝗼𝗱𝘀𝘁𝗼𝗰𝗸 𝟲𝗽𝗺 - 𝟵𝗽𝗺, 𝗥𝟲𝟬𝟬/𝗽𝗽 𝗼𝗿 𝘀𝗮𝘃𝗲 𝗥𝟰𝟬𝟬 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗯𝗼𝗼𝗸 𝗶𝗻𝘁𝗼 𝗮𝗹𝗹 𝘁𝗵𝗿𝗲𝗲 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗥𝟭𝟰𝟬𝟬. Making and printing materials provided and firing included. Items ready for collection 4 - 6 weeks later. 𝙀𝙢𝙖𝙞𝙡 𝙞𝙣𝙛𝙤@𝙘𝙡𝙖𝙮𝙝𝙖𝙣𝙙𝙨.𝙘𝙤.𝙯𝙖 𝙩𝙤 𝙗𝙤𝙤𝙠.
• 𝟎𝟏 𝐌𝐨𝐧𝐨𝐩𝐫𝐢𝐧𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠 - 𝟏𝟔 𝐌𝐚𝐫𝐜𝐡
A simple but effective printmaking technique used for transferring single unique images to a surface. Lissa will demonstrate two techniques: monoprinting with a plaster slab and monoprinting from newsprint paper.
• 𝟎𝟐 𝐋𝐢𝐭𝐡𝐨𝐠𝐫𝐚𝐩𝐡𝐢𝐜 - 𝟐𝟑 𝐌𝐚𝐫𝐜𝐡
A flexible and exciting technique to transfer detailed images from a printed image in interpretive colour. This can be used for fine illustrations and photographs, giving them a nostalgic, artistic expression.
• 𝟎𝟑 𝐖𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐥𝐢𝐝𝐞 - 𝟑𝟎 𝐌𝐚𝐫𝐜𝐡
These sepia transfers are very popular as they are applied cleanly and quickly onto the already glazed and fired surface. Bring your own ready-fired pot to print onto or ceramic-ware will be on sale for participants to choose from for printing.
Space is limited, booking essential >> 𝙀𝙢𝙖𝙞𝙡 𝙞𝙣𝙛𝙤@𝙘𝙡𝙖𝙮𝙝𝙖𝙣𝙙𝙨.𝙘𝙤.𝙯𝙖 𝙩𝙤 𝙗𝙤𝙤𝙠.

TRANSFERRING IMAGES ONTO CLAY
Make a ceramic piece to print our images onto using the lithography process as well as monoprints. Images will be provided.
These simple and easy techniques are a useful addition to one’s decorating repertoire. They can be used in combination with other decorating techniques.
Lunch included.
Firing and glazing is done for you with collection at a later date.
I run workshops throughout the year, here’s an example of some techniques covered
Sculpture workshops: Full body working from a live model / sculpting heads
Paperclay Workshop: Explore the liberating properties of paperclay
Porcelain Paperclay Tealights and Small Precious Bowls
Liquid Slip Decorating Fun: Using wet slip to marble, feather, slip trail, comb and create mocha fern patterns. We will make easy slumped bowls to try out each technique with slips of all colours.
Transfer Techniques: Lithography and monoprinting techniques.
Cut-Away Bowls: This is a fun technique to help visualize the clay surface in 3-d. Think out of the box and find a new way of looking at the vessel. We will use paperclay.
African-Inspired Burnished Pots: We will fast-track the drying process to allow us to burnish our finished pots in the afternoon. Both leatherhard and dry burnishing will be explored.
Raku Workshop: We will fire up our raku kiln to explore saggar firing, fuming and traditional raku techniques. Bring your own prepared small pots or buy some from us.
